The Middle East is an area where car is king and fuel is inexpensive, often little reward to discover more environmentally-friendly methods of moving around.

But this year, as demonstrations throughout the Middle East have actually pressed up the price of oil, the problem of discovering alternative sources of fuel has entered sharp focus.

In a region that has one of the greatest carbon footprints worldwide, one company is making the most of the growing pressure to find alternatives to oil. It's established the Middle East's first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving successful too, already their client-list includes McDonald's.
