Erectile dysfunction medications took in Glengormley

8 April 2011

Large amounts of unlicensed medications have actually been taken by Department of Health authorities during a search of a home in Glengormley.

A man was interviewed by department officers about unlawfully importing and subsequently supplying unlicensed impotence medications through the web.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medication offences.

He will now be the subject of a report to the Service.

The search was brought out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, stated: "It is essential that we get the message across that unlicensed medicines can be unsafe.

"These kinds of products being offered, generally online, have gone through no quality assurance and there can be no assurance about their security.

"You merely do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More significantly, you do not understand the effect drugs like this might have on your health."
